Parents

Dear Camp Parent,

Thanks for taking time out to help out on this year’s school camp. This letter sets out what will happen on Tuesday, the first day of camp.

We meet at school between 7.45am and 8.00am and then load and board the bus before departing at 8.30.

When we arrive at Sandspit we will select a certain amount of children to help with the loading. It is best if we create a chain gang using mostly adults so please jump in and help. The remainder will remain away from the wharf for safety.

As soon as we arrive at the camp wharf we will most probably disembark the children and they will be passed a piece of luggage to carry as they pass the pilot (this is what happened last year). We then need to unload everything else. Once again we will try to chain gang this off on to trolleys and move it to the camp.

At the camp we will all assemble on the grass area by the playground with all of our bags so that we can get organised before sending children anywhere. The camp manager may well address the group at this point. If it is raining we make our way straight to the camp building where there is a large classroom. Once this is sorted we will send the children off to sort their dorms out. At this point it would best if we could have a parent meeting as this will be the first time that we are all together. This will be relatively brief and then we can get ourselves organised.

Once this is all sorted we have morning tea and prepare to go for our tramp.

We always hold a planning meeting straight after dinner to prepare for the next day.

Hope this is helpful.
